There are three parts to the teeth whitening process, two that take place at our office and a third step that you perform in your home. Upon your first appointment, molds of your teeth are made to model custom plastic trays, like a retainer.
When you return for a second appointment, your dentist will help you try on the trays. After any necessary adjustments are made to them, you take them home, along with some teeth whitening solution and instructions on how to whiten your teeth. Most likely, you will fill the trays with the whitening solution and wear them twice a day for about 30 minutes each, or overnight depending on much whitening you want to enhance the beauty of your smile!
